The girls and I are shouting ourselves to our Christmas gift to each other this evening: each other's company. This is at Catalina's in Rose Bay. Bit swanky. Bit up-market. Tres expensive.
So I needed a new pair of hoofers, oui?
If I recall the professor opined: rubber on the road, filled in, laces and ankle support without being too heavy.
How about this pair of Converse which the label assures me is "Chuck Light Hi"?

I'm impressed. Love the colour.
I've gone red in sandles this summer.
Strap 'em on and you're ready to party. LOL.
They are wonderful and I know you will carry them off with such style ... not at all what I imagined when you said you had to wear lace up boots. So what colour are you going to have for your walking stick?
They fit the bill and chic to boot. Can't you claim them as a medical aid?
They are tres cool, Julie. And the colour's very festive!
But a word of warning, from someone who has a vast collection of similar shoes (I went mad in New York when I found Converse shoes for the equivalent of £15!), they don't provide much support. I find that I cannot wear mine for more than a few days in a row or the balls of my feet get terribly sore. I also get shin splints if I walk more than a few miles in them. So... nice to look at and okay to wear for a small while, but not that comfortable for serious walking.

Yes, I have noticed this already, Kim. They are VERY flat.
So yesterday, I also bought another pair of Hush Puppies but they do not have any ankle support but are good in all other respects. I will wear them today and try them out.
I will nip into Pitt Street later today and check out a Kumfs store where I am reliabily informed by two people that I should find what I am after.
Not quite what I was expecting either, although I love the colour. My first thought as well was that they don't provide much support for shoes you have to walk in, especially if you are carrying the camera gear or groceries.
I like 'em. And is that the skirt they're dating?
Yep, that is the frock they are dating - last night at any rate, but being of a racey inclination, I expect them to play the field.
You are right about the support: there is not much to prevent a sprain. However, as well as not being sure just where I am going to put my step, I am also not able to feel the foot so well. This encases and fits snugly and gives me feedback. Then, specifically with this pair, they are so garish I can see them providing further feedback. If I go to the cinema or to a restaurant, this is the go. If I go shopping or on a photography excursion, there are other choice.
I will show you the Kumpfs purchase in the fullness of time.
Hihi, besides wearing heavy boots in winter, the only thing I wear in summer are chucks ;-) - not the laced up boot version though.
Got four pairs so far ...
These will be really cool with the skirt -- but you definitely need a red walking stick now, don't you? I would paint some white blossoms on the stick ... ehee... what I am doing right now ... designing walking sticks?? .. ;-)
Before that though, I am searching for a very long pair of purple shoe laces ...
I used to have some of those - got them in a camping/outdoor store - possibly the now non existant Gowings - to go with my purple and grey hiking boots.
I have a long pair of orange/black ... but I don't think I could cope with this combination!
I will find them, just need to look in Coles I think.
