Blogging at The Glenmore

The day started overcast and grey with a biting wind, unusual for Sydney. However, that rapidly burnt off leaving us in paradise, specifically on the rooftop at The Glenmore in Cumberland Street, The Rocks.

And just WHO is 'us' I hear you cry. Well, starting from the left we have Bill from Brisbane & Surrounding Areas, Diane from Adventure Before Dementia, Jim from Sydney City & Suburbs, Ann from Sydney Meanderings, Joan from Sweet Wayfaring, and Michelle & Peter from Sydney-the Emerald City. Bloggers and photographers one and all.

The Glenmore is a very old pub as befits its location. Winding up three sets of stairs you reach their rooftop 'lounge' with quite decent views down the harbour. The pub is on Cumberland Street, which runs along the Bradfield Highway, and sits atop the Argyle Stairs.

When I nominated the day, I had no idea that Jessica Watson was going to head on down the harbour after completing her solo sail around the world. 'Twas a sight, seeing these bloggers hanging off the railing trying to work out which splodge of pink was the centre of all the attention.

However, it was a grand meet-up and we will do it again before the year is out. And ... and ... and ... congratulations to the new grandparents, Bill and Diane who are down from Brissie for another week.

Hello Joan! (Never saw her photo :-)).

... seems like you had much fun ... and hey, is this a beer there in the green bottle?

Thank you Julie. I looked for you in the crowd at the Opera House. Jessica got a grand welcome.

I just had another look at the group photo. You all look so normal! How can that be?

That is one of the absolute pleasures of blogging. Taking a punt on a person and realising they are just as nice in person as they appear to be through the ether!!

And when you put a bunch of nice people together ...,

Appearances can be deceptive, Bruce.

Thanks for organising the meet up, Julie, really enjoyed it. It was good to put faces to blogs.

Thanks Julie for organising the Sydney Blogger's convention in such an interesting venue with a wonderful view of the harbour even if it puffed us out walking up all the steps. We had a great day. So much fun meeting people from cyber space.
You asked size: 3.7k and 50cm, pretty big huh no wonder her eyes were like saucers when I visited her the next day.

I heard that some countries the bloggers do meet up once a year at a designated place. This is the first time I heard happening in Sydney. I wonder if I could attend next time. I know that I am in no way competitive like anyone in the group. If I made it to the states to attend a Poet's Convention it would be nice to taste an Australian experience.

Anyhow, I was at home watching TV media coverage of Jessica Watson's Sailing into History before heading to church.

Undoubtedly, you all look great and having fun getting together. How nice!

Thank you for being in contact, Bonnie. I will ensure that you are invited to the next meet-up. Not sure when that will be, but shall try to make it during 2010.

Thank you so much for your interest.

Well done to all! As Julie has mentioned I'm always amazed to find internet people are very much like the real people they pretend to be!
