The spring laundry is hung out to dry all through the neighbourhood which is festooned with the blue of jacaranda and agapanthus interwoven with the brilliant lime of the Golden Robinia tree. Under the influence of polaroid lenses this blue is transformed to vibrant mauve. As I pondered the permutations from blue to lilac to mauve to purple my older brother called to tell me that he was overwhelmed by the beauty of the north shore as he returned midweek by train to Wauchope on the NSW north coast.
