Is there a bear in there?

Stage 1: the budStage 3: he fully opened flower giving delight to a wide range of suckers Stage 4: the exhausted flower head

"That buzzing-noise means something. If there's a buzzing noise, somebody's making a buzzing-noise, and the only reason for making a buzzing-noise that I know of is because you're an insect. .... And the only reason for being an insect that I know of is slurping nectar ... " With apologies to A. A. Milne

This is an angophora hispida which is a genus of about 10 species that are commonly called "Apples", because some species have a growth habit similar to that of the apple tree. Along with Eucalyptus and Corymbia, the plants are generally referred to as "eucalypts" and in common parlance as gum trees - 'cause that is what they ooze. These images were of specimens along South Dowling Street - a major arterial road from the CBD to the airport - close to the East Redfern footbridge. It took me an hour to travel about 20m - the Heart Foundation would not give that a tick!

Julie! I almost lost you when you changed blog address and took down the old one. What prompted the move? Anyway, I'll change my own bookmark so I can keep up.

A sweet gum tree? Is that what this is?

Tse: I have added more information about the flowers to the post which I cobbled together before dashing off to choir this evening. What caused the implosion? I was being suffocated of my own volition: I need to follow my brain and my emotions whereas Sydney Eye forced me into a mould that I could no longer bear. What you will hear with this new voice is quintessential moi: not composed to a formula and not with an ear to an audience.

HEY!
I'm easily confused!
I thought this was another Julie!

I like the nice clean lines of this one.

And I really miss the beautiful jacarandas of my home town (toowoomba) - it's too cold for them down here.

Hope this is a more ENJOYABLE venture for you!

Oh yeah - why did you take Sydney Eye down - it could still stay there - don't wipe out your history. It's good to reminisce.

Well your voice is what we crave to hear. Bring it on in any shape form or fashion. I forget that you are heading into spring, right? Ahhh and winter has it's fingers around our necks now. And so it goes. Interesting your plants down there. Not like anything here. And we all learn from each other.
