My apologies ... and to allay your concerns ...

I have received a number of emails now concerned after my welfare. I apologise for the hiatus. I had trouble including images, and it all seemed too hard.

At the end of July, Kirsten went back to work, and the jobs market being what it is - and Kirsten being a lawyer - it had to be full-time. I did 5 days child-care for a while until Kirsten could juggle some centre-based care. I only ever do one child per day, but now it is down to 4 days per week, with the occasional Wednesday afternoon off, too.

I manage quite well I think. We have the occasional blow-up, Alannah and I, but we have just finished the first lot of pre-school holidays, and we are still friends! Mama manages to work from home a bit during the school breaks. I am not sure whether this is a good thing or not.

Last week, Juliet celebrated her first birthday. The first shot in this post was at Northbridge Baths on Sunday afternoon. These next two are Alannah helping Mama ice the cupcake fountain for the party last Saturday, and the birthday girl in full-celebration mode.

It is so good to hear that you are alive and well. I was really concerned that your illness had worsened. However, I see that it is those gorgeous grand daughters that have been hogging your time. It sounds like an awful lot of work for you but I guess there is very little alternative and we do anything we can to help our kids.
Keep in touch even if it is only now and then.Take care.

Lovely to have your update. Cricket you must be run off your feet with that much childcare.

Hah! I knew you meant "crikey". I have that trouble with automatic filling, too. Stoopid system.

I don't find the child care onerous, but just part of my day. And Kirsten leaves early but tries to get home between 4 and 430.

And the compensation is massive involvement and feeling of usefulness.

Diane ... As you know, grandchildren are either feast or famine. Yes, there is a lot of work, but it is not really hard. And I do little on Friday, Saturday, Sunday - other than gardening. I think this level of involvement and work is good for my balance and walking. Neither are getting better, but I have learnt to live within my abilitites as they degrade.

Hello stranger!
So nice to hear from you!
So happy your little family is happy and healthy and you are busy, busy, busy.
Don't stay away so long next time, ok?

So nice to see you back and doing well, all that child related activity will indeed do you good.
It is so nice to be able to spend time with the little ones and be part of their world.
I lived next door to my Gran from 3 to 16 years old(when she died)
and it was very, very special for me.
