A happy little Vegemite

Photos all taken by Kirsten
We're happy little Vegemites
As bright as bright can be.
We all enjoy our Vegemite
For breakfast, lunch, and tea.
Our mummies say we're growing stronger
Every single week,
Because we love our Vegemite
We all adore our Vegemite
It puts a rose in every cheek.

I don't know the tune but I can well imagine it. I've tried vegemite, I've tried marmite; one I liked, one not-so-much. It's been many years...can't remember which was which. Miss Alannah seems quite fond of her vegemite.

I suspect it was Vegemite you were not so fond of. It is relatively salty. Alannah is fond of it, but her mother contends that it leaves the air in her room smelling foul!!

I shall try to learn how to upload sound. This is a good advertising campaign from the 50s and 60s.

Hah! Found the advert - but look at how much that young girl has spread on her toast!! You could not eat that much - way too salty!!

Thank you for digging this up. I'll be humming about the rose in every cheek in my dreams tonight.

I had my vegemite this morning.

Don't you love how Alannah is looking at that funny little piece on her finger?

(don't forget, you've seen where Cyril Callister was born!
Who??)

So cute. Her eyes match the colour of Vegemite. She's gonna be a good Aussie.
