Joy of joys

Monday 21 December 2009, 11 weeks

My daughter, Kirsten (30), and her husband, Darren (35), are expecting their first child in the middle of July. The above ultrasound was handed to me in a plain envelope on Christmas Day. Oh joy of joys ...

Here is the first ultrasound of Kirsten when she was "about" the equivalent gestation. Oh joy of joys ...

Friday 19 January 1979, 3 months

And here are glimpses of the delighted parents. Firstly, in my living room after knowing each other two weeks in March 2004. The two smaller images are the most recent I have and were taken this past July at Kirsten's 30th. Finally, a photograph taken at their March 2007 wedding on Shark Island.

Oh joy of joys ...

That is great news. They look a very happy couple. So we will both be grandmamas next year.

Congratulations to the whole lot of you.

The parents are attractive in the extreme, so the child should be a knockout.

We got back from holidays last night and where to start with catching up with all the blogs ... started here coz this is the most exciting of them all ... fantastic. I can see you loving the granny thing. You are in for a very interesting New Year.

Julie, one of the delights of my 2009 has been following your blogs, responding to your always insightful comments and meeting with you. You've helped me grow as a photographer and a person. I sure do intend catching up again in the New Year if you have any time free from walking the beach and minding the baby!

Sensational! Wonderful news and I reckon just about the best Christmas present an expecting grandparetn can have! Isn't that just the best way to cap off your year with all it's tribulations?

Now I can be excited for you as well as for us. Did I tell you I love little people underfoot?

You will of course keep us posted!

Julie, I'm so excited for you. I know how much you have longed to be a grandmother! Enjoy!

Thank you, Kim. It is a delicious thought that I can hardly believe is happening. It is amazing how many of her reactions are similar to those of my own. For example, strollers. She cannot see how some women can sit and ooh and ahh and talk for hours about strollers. According to her you research, you buy, you use. I could not agree more!

Oh dear. That serves me right for not having dropped by here for a few weeks! That is such fabulous news! I can almost picture the scene of the envelope being handed over :-)

Please pass on my congratulations to Kirsten. If I wasn't expected to have a better vocab at my age, I would saw it is awesome news! You were due some happy news anyway after all the crappy stuff that's happened recently!

I love hearing about *other people* having kiddies. Kristel has 2 girls now and I love seeing my parents enjoy guilt-free enjoyment with Federika and Alessia. (and it lets me off the hook :)
